Motorists are being advised of an emergency road closure in Leitrim following a landslide.
A section of embankment along the L7306 in Aghagrania, Drumshanbo was compromised by the high velocity flow of the river alongside the road.
The incident which occurred on Friday last saw 50 metres of roadside verge collapse. Engineers from Leitrim County Council further inspected the erosion this week and a decision has now been taken to fully close the road in the interest of public safety.
It will be closed for an indefinite period and emergency funding will now be sought for repair works. Local traffic is being urged to divert at Mohor to access the Drumshanbo/Aaghacashal Road.
