Leitrim TD appeals to government for better pay for Section 39 workers

A Leitrim TD is appealing to the government to progress plans to allow Section 39 workers attain better pay.

Earlier this week employees at various groups, including services in Sligo and Ballinasloe, were on strike for better pay and conditions.

Sinn Féin TD Martin Kenny called on the Tanaiste to improve the contract situation and to clarify how they can a benefit from pay rises or public sector increments.

He feels many workers will consider leaving their jobs unless their situation changes.
