Councils in Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon and Donegal are being asked to reveal their plans for the installation of fast-charging points for electric cars.
The request is being made by local Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny who says that since restrictions eased there's been a good flow of visitors into the region and there doesn't seem to be enough charge points.
Deputy Kenny says when he raised the issue of the rollout of fast-charge points in the Dail with Minister Eamon Martin an answer had come back to say that €2 million euro is being made available to councils to install the points.
The Sinn Fein TD says that according to the ESB ecar map there are less than 25 such charging points across the four counties.
He says the issue is becoming more and more urgent with the increase in people buying electric vehicles.
