Sinn Fein's Martin Kenny is calling for better safety and security protocols following a gun threat to his Leinster House office.
The Leitrim TD received a phone call yesterday morning which made threats against TD's and the Gardai.
The incident took place two years after the justice spokesperson had his car burnt out in an arson attack.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Martin Kenny said stricter legislation is required to deal with security issues.
Minister for Justice Heather Humphreys said that because Gardai are investigating the threat against Deputy Kenny’s office, it has become an operational matter, and it would therefore be inappropriate for her to comment.
The Minister did add, however, that on a broader point, she utterly condemns all threats made to Gardai, elected representatives, and their staff.
