A Leitrim teenager was selected to take part in a special showcase for science innovators earlier this week at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Mohill student Sara O'Beirne exhibited her BT Young Scientist project at a 'Science for Development' showcase that was organised by Development organisation Self Help Africa.
The Irish charity organises the event to encourage science students to devise projects that look at challenges and issues that affect people living in the Developing World.
Sara's project - a wind turbine designed to provide a clean and cost effective source of energy - was one such project.
The award-winners receive a bursary, sponsored by Irish Aid, to travel with Self Help Africa on an annual schools study visit to a country where it is working.
