Residents of Leitrim Village are expressing concerns that vehicles approaching the area from Carrick-on-Shannon are entering the area at 'very dangerous' speeds.
This month's meeting of the Carrick M.D heard that the speed of traffic, especially Heavy Goods Vehicles, going downhill was of major concern to residents of two local housing estates.
Councillor Paddy Farrell told the meeting that residents were worried for their safety and pedestrians because of the speed that vehicles approach from Tullylannon Hill.
Responding to his motion to appeal for traffic calming measures, the local authority confirmed it will reposition a driver feedback sign at the hill in an effort to slow drivers' approach.
The meeting also heard that the county's JPC may be petitioned to ask for a go-safe speed van to be parked in the area in another effort to control drivers' speed.
Councillor Farrell says he would like to see another solution to speeding traffic discussed:
