A young Leitrim woman is raising awareness around the importance of speaking out about mental health.
Sara Crowe from Carrick-on-Shannon suffered from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The 23 year old is now encouraging people not to be ashamed and always talk to others when in need of help.
Last week Sara posted a video on social media sharing her experience in an effort to break down the stigma.
She also hopes by speaking out others will access supports.
Tommy Stenson has been speaking to Sara.
'It is amazing when you start talking to someone about your mental health that you realize how normal it is but they also take a weight off your shoulders that it is a normal thing to go through and that it is not that there is nothing wrong with you. I didn't feel abnormal anymore and I didn't feel ashamed. I felt more like there was a reason and there was a cause. Looking at those supports that are offered to us are actually so beneficial in that there is nothing to be ashamed of.'
