The Sligo-Leitrim TD says she cannot see how a new leader of Fine Gael will be able to rescue and refocus the Government.

Both Fine Gael TDs in the Shannonside Region have rowed in behind Higher Education Minister Simon Harris.

UPDATE: Local Fine Gael TD's Frank Feighan and Peter Burke have confirmed to Shannonside FM News this morning, that they will support Simon Harris, should he allow his name go forward in the leadership race.

Opposition TDs and parties are calling for a general election.

The announcement is expected be made outside Government buildings this afternoon.

The comments were made last night at the annual White House shamrock ceremony for St. Patrick's Day.
