Liam Farrell was found dead at the back of his house in Rooskey in January 2020 at 87 years of age, in what his family believe were suspicious circumstances.

The family of Leitrim man who died in suspicious circumstances is to erect a plaque with an appeal for information at the home where he was found.

Liam Farrell was found dead at the back of his house in Rooskey in January 2020 at 87 years of age.

His family believes he was assaulted, but an inquest returned an open verdict in September.

An open verdict means that the evidence does not fully or clearly explain the cause and circumstances of death.

A senior investigator is currently reviewing the Garda investigation, with the family calling for a new investigation to be launched.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Liam's son Brendan hopes the plaque will result in someone coming forward with more information on how his father died:
