The final works on Ballaghaderreen Library in Roscommon must be progressed without further delay according to a local TD.
Sinn Fein's Claire Kerrane has welcomed the news the Library at Dillon house will open in the third quarter of next year but has stressed that the process has taken too long.
A temporary library is to be opened in the town in the former Tusla office in Ballaghaderreen, subject to planning permission.
It's thought the final works on the listed building will take up to 32 weeks to complete.
Roscommon County Council have confirmed that project will go out to tender before Christmas with a contractor set to be appointed in early 2024.
A mobile library service has also been provided by the local authority over the course of the closure.
