Plans have been lodged for the construction of a new LIDL foodstore in Longford.
LIDL Ireland Gmbh are seeking to demolish the existing single storey building on the Dublin road in the town and replace it with a new supermarket on an expanded site.
The new development would expand into the adjoining former fuel depot and require a reconfiguration of the existing site layout.
Plans submitted to Longford County Council call for part single, part two storey 2,529 square metre foodstore with an ancillary off-license.
Also included in the submission is a relocated vehicular access point along the Dublin Road, roof mounted solar panels, a covered trolley bay, public lighting and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Longford County Planners will make their decision on the application in August.
