Glowing tributes were paid to Councillor John Naughten at the first meeting of Roscommon County Council since his tragic death earlier this month.
A minute’s silence was observed at this afternoon’s meeting, which was also adjourned for 20 minutes as a mark of respect.
The Drum man was a councillor for 21 years before he died in a personal tragedy on October 4th, at the age of 50.
The chief executive of the council, Shane Tiernan, was among those who paid tribute to the Fine Gael general election candidate today.
The cathaoirleach of the council, Paschal Fitzmaurice, also expressed his condolences to the Naughten family.
