Ballygar GP Martin Daly is seeking to represent Fianna Fáil in the general election in Roscommon-Galway.
The former president of the Irish Medical Organisation made the announcement at a party meeting in Roscommon town last night.
He’s set to contest their selection convention later this month, where he’ll go head-to-head with Senator Eugene Murphy.
Dr Daly has been a member of Fianna Fáil for 30 years, and says he wants to be in government.
Our reporter Eoghan Murphy spoke to him last night in the Abbey Hotel after the Fianna Fáil meeting.
