The family of a Leitrim man who died at his home in 2020 have vowed to continue to seek answers following his inquest.
Liam Farrell died suddenly at his home in Aughamore on the 12th of January 2020, in what his family believe were violent circumstances.
The jury in the medical inquest returned an open verdict yesterday, meaning that in their view the evidence did not fully or clearly explain the cause and circumstances of death.
On the 11th of January, 2020, Liam Farrell was socialising in Rooskey village before walking a short distance to his home close to midnight.
He was found in a traumatic state at door of his house late the next afternoon and was pronounced dead soon after.
The scene was forensically examined but no criminal charges in connection with the death of Mr Farrell were ever pursued.
Following five hours of evidence in which serious questions regarding the deceased's post mortem exam were raised, the jury returned the open verdict.
The family were represented by well known solicitor Frank Buttimer, who speaking outside the court in the aftermath of the verdict, declared the family would not stop their search for answers:
Liam's son Brendan Farrell spoke to Daniel Considine after the verdict yesterday.
