A Leitrim woman who received an MBE award this week has revealed she thought she was being scammed when she was first told the news.
Pauline Woods who's originally from Ballinaglera was honoured for her work in campaigning for better services for premature babies and their parents.
She set up the charity "Born Too Soon" in 1985 with other parents as a result of her own experience in losing two of her sons and campaigned for better support for families, and better medical equipment.
Pauline says she' s very proud of her Leitrim roots, and she and her husband Michael, who's also from Leitrim ,used to travel home to Ireland every six weeks to visit their parents pre-pandemic.
Speaking on the Lets Talk show today Pauline said she was delighted and very surprised to have been given an MBE, and actually hadn't believed it when she got the first official notification.
