A Longford couple are recovering after being knocked unconscious by lethal fumes from a slurry pit on their farm.
Following the incident last week, the family of Mervin and Iris Clendenning from Stonepark are appealing to farmers to be aware of the impacts of all activity on their farms.
Swift action by Mervin's brother Stuart and neighbour Mervin Waters, who were in the area at that time brought the couple out of the shed to safety.
A massive thank you to everyone who has helped us over the past few days. Too many people to thank personally but it has not gone unnoticed. Your help saved 2 lives on Thursday night. We are truly blessed. Please keep safe around slurry and its gas.

Both are now recovering after the incident and their son Trevor Clendenning describes how his mother, who was called to help her husband, became overwhelmed herself.
Trevor says the family want to make sure that everyone is aware of how easily an incident like this could happen.
