A father-of-one has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for importing over €8 million worth of cocaine into a private airfield in Co Longford.

The drugs were flown into Abbeyshrule Aerodrome from France in August 2022.

Fifty-six-year-old Tim Gilchrist Junior of Mavis Bank, Newrath, Waterford, was given an eleven and a half year, with the final six months suspended, at a sitting of Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court today.
