Mary McAleese has lost electricity supply in her north Roscommon home for around a month over the past year – and is calling for the ongoing crisis to be fixed.
The weather events have regularly hit the Cootehall property the former president lives in with her husband, Martin.
Storm Eowyn led to power cuts for around 30,000 homes and businesses in the Shannonside region, including the McAleese house.
Mary was interviewed at The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday night, in an event to support the Croghan Community Development Fund.
Our reporter Eoghan Murphy spoke to her afterwards, and first asked about her connection to the area.
