The Minister for Agriculture has told the Dail that he never sought to link alleged threats against management at C+D in Longford and beef

The Minister for Agriculture has told the Dail that he never sought to link alleged threats against management at C+D in Longford and beef protestors or two men under injunctions.

Michael Creed has today moved to clarify remarks made in the Dail last night as dozens of farmers maintain their protest in Dublin this afternoon.

The Minister last night told the House that death threats were made against management at C&D foods in Edgeworthstown during the beef crisis protests.

Farmers have called on the Minister to resign after they claimed that no such threats were made against the factory, which has yet to lift injunctions against two Longford farmers that resulted from the beef crisis blockades.

Minister Creed claims that he attended a meeting with Meat Industry Ireland, and the Minister for Justice at which details of the alleged threats were made known.

Minister Creed said those details were passed on and that the individual against whom the threats were made also confirmed the details of the allegations
