Residents around Lough Funshinagh in Roscommon say they are facing 'sheer terror' of watching and waiting for their homes will be flooded this winter.
Work has stopped on the installation of an overflow pipe to remove excess flooded water from the former turlough following a High Court injunction sought by Friends of the Irish Environment.
The Lough Funshinagh Flood Crisis Group says it is 'beyond belief' that an environmental group is actually preventing bring lake back to its normal winter flooded levels and restore the habitats that have all been destroyed.
Water on the lake is still one meter higher than it was this time last year, one home has to be destroyed and another family has been living in rented accommodation.
Geraldine Murray, Secretary of the Group says the communities of Ballagh, Ardmullan and Lisfelim are back to living in fear.
