A review of the garda investigation into the suspicious death of an elderly Leitrim man, is expected to be complete next month.
It centres on the death of 87-year-old Liam Farrell at the back of his house in Rooskey in January 2020.
His family believes he was assaulted, and an inquest returned an open verdict in September.
A senior investigator met the Farrell family in Carrick-on-Shannon today, as he reviews the garda investigation.
Liam’s son, Peter, attended the meeting.
The senior investigator, Superintendent Peter Conlon, also visited Liam’s house in Rooskey today.
The review was ordered by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, who has promised to meet the Farrell family after it’s complete.
Another one of Liam’s sons, Brendan, also attended today’s meeting.
Peter wants a new garda investigation after this review is complete.
