LISTEN: Roscommon 'crime spree' under the spotlight in the Seanad

The Seanad has been told criminals have recently taken control of parts of Co Roscommon at night.

Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy says there’s a crime spree in the county at the moment.

Two houses were burgled in Frenchpark last Friday night, and there have also been break-ins in Castleplunkett, Ballaghaderreen and Loughglynn.

Senator Murphy told the Seanad he wants Justice Minister Helen McEntee to debate the crisis in the chamber.

Senator Murphy says tougher action is needed against those responsible for burglaries.
