A Shannonside MEP is calling for emergency permits to be given to forestry owners affected by Storm Eowyn.
Around 10 per cent of all forestry across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon was knocked down during the bad weather.
But the government is insisting landowners get felling licences, as normal, before clearing their timber.
Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly says this is because of EU rules - but says an exception should be made.
Mullooly says he'll be meeting the EU commissioner about the issue.
