A new flood relief scheme could be in place in south Roscommon by mid-April after it got planning permission.
It will see water removed from Lough Funshinagh by a temporary pipeline - to ease the longstanding flooding crisis in the area.
An Bord Pleanála gave it the go-ahead today with conditions, which haven't been released yet.
Local councillor Laurence Fallon says he's confident the pipeline will be in place in the coming months.
Local MEP Ciaran Mullooly has also been reacting to the news, speaking to Eoghan Murphy.
