A special function will be held next month for the Boyle parish priest who is celebrating 50 years since he became a priest.
Fr Gerry Hanly, who is originally from Elphin, has been serving in Boyle for 26 years.
A Mass to celebrate his Golden Jubilee takes place on Friday, June 21st, at 7.30pm in St Joseph's Church in the north Roscommon town.
There will be a social evening with refreshments afterwards in St Joseph's Hall.
Eoghan Murphy met Fr Hanly in the parochial house in Boyle, and first asked him what it was like when he was ordained in 1974.
