A local author believes Ireland's first ever booktown festival in Longford will boost local tourism and business.
John Connell's says the three day event aims to bring some of the nation's finest writers to Granard to discuss their work.
A variety of writer workshops, music sessions and talks will take place from April 21 - 23 in Granard Libary, The Bailey Cafe and Knights and Conquest.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, the Ballinalee writer says the event will inspire creativity, tourism and the rural economy this weekend.
'It's primarily taking place upstairs in Granard Library,Faye's Bar and The Bailey Cafe. We are also having trad nights in Faye's pub with post festival drinks in Clancey's pub so we are trying to create an atmosphere that will bring people in . That people will have a good time that will make them remember Granard as the great place that it is.'
