Close to 44 million euro worth of funding has been allocated to the Shannonside region following a national investment programme in the nation's roads.
658 million euro has been announced nationally for 2024 by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan and Minister of State Jack Chambers. Roscommon will see the largest investment in the region with almost 21.3 million euro announced for local and regional roads.
The funding will be used for multiple projects such as bridge rehabilitation, restoration improvement and movement as well as drainage works. Meanwhile Leitrim will see 13.1 million worth of investment this year.
Longford received close to 9.5 million in today's announcement. Nationally it represents an increase of €32m in funding this year to allow approximately 2,640km of regional and local roads to be maintained to required standards.
