Bishops across the Shannonside Northern Sound region are calling on the Government to immediately lift the current attendance cap on funerals.
Only ten people are allowed at a service at the moment, under level 5 restrictions.
Representatives of the country's archbishops have met with the Taoiseach to urge him to increase the cap to 25, the same limit currently in place in Northern Ireland.
There have also been calls for the Government to amend the Living with Covid plan to allow churches to open for public worship at level 3 restrictions as opposed to level 2
