The Chamber of Commerce in Carrick on Shannon is hopeful that a proposal to pedestrianise part of the town centre at certain periods will attract a new type of visitor.
A trial run is being considered with flexibility in closing Main street to traffic from the Bush hotel to the clock tower at set times or days.
An online survey on the proposal will be available online through the council website and Facebook page from today until the 28th of this month.
The Chamber of Commerce says they would be in favour of a move not specifically for weekends when many younger groups come to the town.
