Local communities receive funding for water improvement schemes

A total of 202 applications were received with 182 awarded.

Some €510,000 in grants have been issued through the Local Authority Waters Programme Community Water Development Fund.

The fund supports communities and groups to deliver projects that enhance the quality of local streams, rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.

Over €6,000 is being allocated across three schemes in Leitrim - including €3,000 for Water Quality Awareness and Training for Sustainable Farming in Leitrim.

Over €4500 has been allocated to two schemes in Longford - including €2,500 for the Edgeworthstown District Development Association.

Over €7,000 ( €7700) is being allocated across four schemes in Roscommon, including €3,000 for Shoreline and waterbody pollution investigation with emphasis on plastic waste at Portrunny Bay.
