Local Community Centres must keep applying for funding in the face of rejections.
That's the advice of Mel Crowe, Chair of Drumlish Community Centre following a major funding announcement this week.
Close to 1.6 million euro in total is to go to 16 different community centres across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon, with Drumlish the third highest allocation in the region.
€260,000 was awarded to the North Longford Centre for upgrade and renovation works as part of a 33 million euro national fund.
Mel Crowe believes the key to successful grant applications is to keep trying:
I would just say to other community centres or voluntary groups like ourselves definitely keep trying and keep applying.
While we were successful this time, there would have been other groups maybe not unsuccessful.
I think more strands for community centres and groups will come, so keep trying and keep working away and your day will come.
