A local councillor has called on Irish Water to upgrade the water treatment plant in Castlerea.
Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice made the call following widespread water outages in the area in recent days.
Almost 5,000 residents in the Ballintubber, Kilmurray, Tarmon and Castlerea areas were left without water from Friday morning until Saturday night.
The region is also facing a boil water notice following disinfection issues at the Longford Springs Water Treatment plant.
Uisce Eireann is advising that water must be boiled for drinking, meal prep, brushing teeth and making ice.
