A local councillor has called for more Garda resources to act as a deterrent to rural burglaries. Fianna Fáil councillor Marty McDermott was speaking following two break ins at business premises in Roscommon on Tuesday morning. Gardaí have since confirmed a vehicle was found burnt out in the Oran area following a further robbery near Roscommon town. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr McDermott said a stronger Garda presence was needed in rural areas:
