A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the Minister for Health to provide additional funding to deal with children who are on long waiting lists and suffering from Spina Bifida.
Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Bohan says early intervention is key as many children are now losing the ability to walk while on a waiting list.
She believes the backlog cannot be blamed on the pandemic and says some money is being misspent and wasted by the Government.
At this month's meeting of Leitrim County Council she highlighted that funding provided for energy bill rebates should have been given to shorten waiting times.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound the Manorhamilton based councillor said it's critical that a country like Ireland provides for its children.
