A Roscommon Councillor is calling for the former Strokestown fire station to be turned into a community hub.
The building which is owned by the local authority closed 20 years ago and Councillor Tom Crosby is now urging the council to lease the vacant station to the town team.
He believes it would be an asset to the area which could provide a space for voluntary groups such as the Tidy Towns, men's and women's sheds as well as other voluntary groups.
Councillor Crosby is hopeful a feasibility study will be carried out on the project in the coming months.
