Longford County Council is being urged to develop individual town and village development plans for each community in the County. The call comes from County Cathaoirleach and Fine Gael Councillor Colm Murray, who believes a more targeted approach would benefit the development of active travel and green spaces as well as ensuring the better use of derelict sites.
The Council approved the County Development Plan last year, a multi-year strategy that set's out development and zoning criteria across Longford. According to Councillor Murray, the town and village strategies would work in conjunction with the wider county development plan to ensure local priorities are kept in mind.
