Residents living close to Lough Funshinagh will never get over the suffering caused by flooding in recent years.
That's according to local councillor Laurence Fallon, who says they must now look forward to rectifying the situation.
Homeowners had hoped a temporary solution would be in place before Christmas but that has been delayed until the new year.
Flood relief works at the former turlough have been held up by High Court actions by an environmental group since 2021.
Cllr Fallon, who lives and owns land near to Lough Funshinagh, says looking back on what might have been is not an option.
Speaking to Shannonside News, he says there's very real hope the lake can be returned to its former state:
