It's hoped that funding over one million euro as part of rural regeneration scheme announced today will lead to an easing of parking and traffic congestion issues in Granard.
The funding, under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund , is being invested in projects that will rejuvenate town centres, drive economic growth and footfall, combat dereliction, develop pedestrian zones and outdoor spaces and boost tourism in Rural Ireland.
There has bene along running campaign to establish a new off street car park for the town, which it's hoped today's funding will help progress.
Granard Councillor Pott McGovern feels the town has bene waiting for a funding boost like this for a long time.
