Longford's Gerry Warnock is not ruling out a bid to enter the Dáil following his decision to step away from local politics. The Independent Longford councillor announced his decision yesterday not to contest the June Local Election. In a statement to Shannonside FM News, Councillor Warnock says he has become increasingly disillusioned with Irish politics and what he believes is the diminution of powers at local authority level.
He's accused the Government of dropping the ball on bread and butter issues such as immigration, healthcare and housing. The Longford man was co-opted onto the Council in 2011, in place of his father Christy Warnock, and went on to be successfully elected in the 2014 and 2019 local elections.
