A local Councillor says time is running out to safeguard homes around Lough Funshinagh ahead of the winter months. Cllr Laurence Fallon said the Taoiseach chaired a recent meeting which sought to find a temporary solution to flooding at the turlough.
There remains optimism that work on an overflow pipe will commence next year but Cllr Fallon believes that may come too late for some. He urged the Government to push existing legislation to its very limit in order to expedite a permanent solution.
