A local councillor has said a proposed traffic safety plan for Castlerea is not suitable for the town in its current form.
Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice, who runs a business in Castlerea, said the loss of parking spaces would impact on local commerce.
He was speaking following a public meeting last night where locals voiced their concerns over the proposed new layout.
The traffic safety scheme for Castlerea was unveiled by Roscommon County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The Fianna Fáil councillor said the plan had not been properly thought out and it would lead to a loss of footfall on some streets.
