A local councillor says he's both 'shocked and disappointed' a west Roscommon village won't be considered for safety measures. Members of Roscommon Municipal District were informed this week that Cloonfad was not a location of interest for Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice has repeatedly called for safety measures to be progressed there and questioned TII's assessment.
He says he'll continue to raise the matter with both Transport Infrastructure Ireland and members of Government. Cllr Fitzmaurice says crossing points and traffic lights are needed to make the village safe for road users:
