87-year-old Liam Farrell died at his home in Rooskey in January 2020 and his family believes he was attacked.

A Fianna Fáil councillor is supporting the call for a new Garda investigation into the tragic death of a Leitrim man. 87-year-old Liam Farrell died at his home in Rooskey in January 2020 and his family believes he was attacked. An inquest in Carrick-on-Shannon last week delivered an open verdict - meaning they weren't satisfied with the cause or circumstances of his death. His family wants Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to order a new probe into his death, and Councillor Sean McGowan, from Dromod, is lending his support.

Councillor McGowan says he was close to Liam for many years before his death.
