Local councillor Laurence Fallon said he was upbeat following yesterday evening's meeting with the Minister Kieran O'Donnell.
The Minister met with a number of local residents before addressing a meeting at Roscommon County Council yesterday.
There, he highlighted ongoing efforts to implement a temporary measure to lower water levels at the lake this year.
He also told residents and public representatives planning for a permanent overflow pipe had been expedited with a view to commencing works next year.
Cllr Fallon said the project remained on track 2025 but called for a temporary solution to be implemented immediately.
