A Leitrim Councillor is calling for an urgent review of the ambulance service in Carrick-on-Shannon. Sinn Féin Councillor Cormac Flynn brought forward a motion at yesterday's Leitrim County Council meeting. He requested that the local authority write to the Minister for Health, the CEO of the HSE, the Director of the National Ambulance and the coordinator of the RHAF.
The ambulance service based in Carrick on Shannon covers South Leitrim and according to Cllr Flynn, has only one live crew at any given time. He says an additional crew is needed to cover the area:
