A Castlerea councillor is warning business owners to pay close attention to their Irish Water bills.
Paschal Fitzmaurice says he's been following complaints from companies that they are being double billed for the same property, and then billed for premises they do not own.
He claims Irish Water has not been very co-operative when he queried various accounts which appeared to have been wrongly billed.
The Roscommon Councillor says Irish Water needs to get their house in order regarding their billing process, and a system must be put in place which is fit for purpose.
A statement issued by Uisce Eireann states that
Uisce Éireann is unable to comment on specific commercial accounts with anyone other than the registered account holder. We have a dedicated contact centre team which deals with all customer related queries, including billing enquiries relating to non-domestic accounts. If a customer has any queries relating to their account, they are advised to call 0818 778 778 or email [email protected]
Uisce Éireann also has a dedicated team providing support to our local representatives. The Local Representative Support Desk can be contacted at [email protected] or by phone at 0818 178 178. Staff are available Monday – Friday from 9am to 5.30pm to deal with queries from elected representatives about public water and wastewater services in their area. Outside of these hours, the 24/7 customer care line is available for urgent queries at 1800 278 278.
