The preparation of the draft register of electors for the next two year period is underway by all County Councils in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
The September meeting of Longford's local authority heard that the current draft register may be the last published due to plans being rolled out to modernise the register itself.
Anyone over the age of 18 and who is living in the county by September 1st can ask to be added to the register and the draft will be published will on November 1st and the final register will be published in February of next year.
Councillor John Browne, who has long campaigned for reform register over concerns about incorrect entries and people on it who no longer resident in the county, was also told it was hoped that most of the issues around electoral issues will be resolved through modernisation.
