Counties in the Shannonside region are being given just over two and a half million euro under funds to improve homes of older people and people with a disability.
The fund which supports home adaptions is 80% exchequer funding through the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage, with 20% funding from the local councils in each county.
Roscommon will have a total of €1,190,000 available under the scheme, including the local council contribution, while Longford will have €829,000 and Leitrim will have €565,000 available.
Grants of up to €30,000 are available to help people with a disability to carry out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs , while up to €8,000 is available to help older people to have necessary repairs carried out and grants of up to €6,000 are also available for mobility aids.
