Gardai are warning all dog owners in the Shannonside Northern Sound region that they could face prosecution if their dog is found to have attacked livestock.
Over nine attacks on livestock were reported across the region since March with five in the Leitrim area, four in the Roscommon Longford division and two in the Cavan Monaghan area.
Owners are liable for a fine of up to 600 euro of face one month in prison if their dog is linked to an incident.
Inspector Carla Curry from Carrick on Shannon Garda station highlights one serious case investigated the county.
