Three motorists have been arrested in separate incidents in Longford and Westmeath over drink and drug driving offences.
Local RPU made the arrests following a high profile roads policing operation over the last number of days.
8 people were killed on Irish roads over the Bank Holiday weekend, with Gardaí urging motorists to drive with extreme caution.
Following reports of dangerous driving in the Edgeworthstown area earlier this week, Longford's Road Policing Unit stopped a car outside of the town.

Following a roadside fluids test, the driver of the vehicle was found to have both cannabis and cocaine in their system.
The motorist was subsequently arrested with court proceedings to follow.

At a Garda checkpoint near Granard yesterday, local Gardaí observed a car attempting to turn away and avoid the checkpoint.
When stopped by the Roads Policing Unit, the driver of the vehicle failed a road side alcohol test.
They were arrested at the scene and will face a court date in the future.
Meanwhile in Westmeath, following an ANPR alert on a car for expired tax and no NCT, local Gardaí stopped a motorist and recorded a number of traffic offences.
They had been disqualified from driving and subsequently failed a roadside drugs test administered by Gardai.
The car was seized and the motorist arrested, with a court date to follow.
